Robert F. Webb's legal career began as a Cobb County prosecutor in 1978. As a prosecutor he also served as an instructor at the North Georgia Police Academy training officers in the areas of search and seizure and trial testimony. Then in 1987 he was appointed as a Cobb County Attorney charged with representing the Cobb County Police Department and the Cobb County Sheriff.

His experience provides him with special knowledge of police policies and practices which he now uses to defend clients charged with criminal offenses in Cobb County. Mr. Webb purposefully limits his criminal practice to cases pending in Cobb County and the municipal courts of Cobb County. The firm provides expertise in representing persons charged with DUI and are the sponsor of a web site dedicated to DUI defense.

In all criminal cases, it's up to the prosecution and ultimately a jury to prove an accused is guilty beyond all reasonable doubt. The state makes sure all available resources are at the disposal of every accused so they may prove their innocence. Proving innocence is far less expensive than a lengthy criminal trial.

When the state has what they consider to be a solid case, the accused needs a strong criminal defense. The criminal defense lawyer has a huge obstacle to tackle in defending a criminal – the vast resources of the state. Nonetheless justice is still done in cases such as this, thanks to the checks and balances in the system.

The role of a criminal defense attorney is to hire investigators to check the truth of the case. They need to verify if the accused is guilty of the crime. If the client did commit the crime, the lawyer will usually devise sentencing programs to suit a client as best they can.

The criminal defense attorney is the only person who is able to provide the accused with a bird's eye overview of the situation and what may happen if the case goes to trial. Defendants may also need to decide whether to accept a plea bargain or not based on the information they get from their attorney.

It's our job to defend the rights of the accused in the best way possible, with the best defense we are able to mount. Our firm has the highest AV rating with Martindale Hubbell.
